Parents-&-Me Early-years Mathematics Foundation and Bilingual Lessons
CAMathories® mathematics curricula use folktales from different parts of the world to teach young children fundamental mathematics principles, incorporating literacy through the power of folk story telling. Our approach engages young children’s emotional and cognitive senses, giving them confidence and ensuring that they feel comfortable and engaged as they learn through a meaningful context (story).
Each lesson includes music and rhymes relating to the folktale of each lesson, story-telling, art and craft activities and body-movement games. Parents-and-me classes also help build the bond between the child and the parent. Parents share the learning and the fun with their children.
Based on the mathematics curriculum, we also offer bilingual lessons. If you want your child to learn another language, or you speak another language and wish to extend the wonderful cultural heritage of that language to the next generation and wish your children to learn fundamental mathematics principles, please register for our Bilingual parents-and-me Mathematics Immersion Program. We conduct our lessons in English and a language of your choice.

The Cantonese-Math Parents-and-Me Immersion class has been a big hit with my five year old son. Dr Kit is an extremely patient teacher and the combination of learning through stories, songs, and games is age-appropriate and engaging.

My son has been in the Cantonese Immersion class for 3 months and he loves it! The class learns Cantonese through folktales and it is a great way for the children to learn common Cantonese words and phrases. My son really enjoys the folktales and the games that are played during class to reinforce the new vocabulary. Dr. Kit has been a great teacher, she is patient with the children and makes the class fun with interactive games and activities!

From the small class size to the abundance of songs, stories, and games that make learning fun, Dr. Kit has created not only a productive learning environment but also a community that celebrates our culture and language. Dr. Kit is very organized yet flexible to meet the needs of the children. Her lessons are engaging and thoughtful, and we appreciate her handouts and learning materials, which allow me (who is not fluent in Cantonese) to practice with my daughter at home. I find my daughter singing the Cantonese songs from class in the car and at home. She has learned a great deal and we are eager to continue with the Cantonese-Math Parents-and-Me Immersion class.

My six-year-old son loves speaking Cantonese with Dr. Kit. She is very knowledgeable in Cantonese, as well as nice and caring. I recommend her to anyone with a young kid. She uses traditional Hong Kong songs, such as 小明 to help children remember lessons and have fun while mastering Cantonese. Her books really helped improve my son’s vocabulary and she pays attention enough to know if children need more stimulation, either because they are ahead, or need more help in certain areas.

I am a mother of three beautiful boys that have grown to be amazing men. Regrettably I was not able to integrate Spanish into their lives the way I would have wanted to for various reasons. Surrounded by Spanish speaking extended family they were able to pick it up and now speak limited Spanish.
I truly believe it is a must for children to know and understand their culture and language is a key component towards this end. Knowing another language not only gives you the connection to your culture, it also opens your life to more experiences.
It makes me proud to be part of these classes to help children connect to their families and culture and teach math at the same time. If these classes had been available to me when my kids were younger, I would have been in a better position to fully immerse them in a multi cultural upbringing.
